Slow Food Tomato Tasting!
Hi All,
A group of us fun loving foodies in Nevada County have been working to get a chapter of Slow Food (slowfoodusa.org) started here locally. I was a member of the San Francisco chapter a few years back and had the pleasure of attending lots of fun food and agriculture focused events.
Slow Food is a name more and more people are starting to recognize, however, its actual purpose can be a bit ambiguous to some. To me, Slow Food is an idea, it is a way of living and a way of eating. There are groups of Slow Foodies all over the world, “It is a grassroots movement that links the pleasure of eating with a commitment to community and environment.”
We started a CONVIVIA, or chapter, of Slow Food locally to bring people interested in this way of thinking about food, culture and eco-system together. We hope to celebrate and educate ourselves and others about the beauty of Slow Food.
Sounds great, right? If you are interested in learning more about Slow Food, check out the website (slowfoodusa.org), or join us in our first event, A TOMATO TASTING ON SEPTEMBER 20TH FROM 2-5 PM AT THE TRABUCCO RANCH. The flier is attached in this email.
Feel free to email me with questions about our next meeting or how to become a member.
