Join IN THE KITCHEN for our first cooking classes at the beautiful new location in downtown Nevada City! We are offering several great classes before the holidays to help inspire your celebrations!

Monday, December 8th- Gluten-Free Cooking for the Holidays
6:830 pm
Holidays are a difficult time for people who are gluten-intolerant since cakes, pies, cookies, rolls, stuffing and gravy are commonly made with gluten ingredients. Laurel, a celiac, who has been cooking gluten-free for twenty years, will share how to make traditional holiday dishes gluten-free.
We will be making Buche de noel (a French chocolate cake), basic cut out cookies and a tart. Recipes, tastings and menu suggestions will be included.
$50/person


Wednesday, December 10th- Winter Soups and Stews
6-8:30 pm
An evening of warming soups and sharing of food memories. Soup is a dish that makes everyone feel loved. We will learn how to make vegetable, chicken and beef stocks in this class. Be prepared to take your soup making skills to the next level!

Potato Leek Soup- the “local” take on traditional Vichyssoise
Old Fashion Chicken Noodle Soup- Learn hot to make chicken stock and soup that really is for the soul!
Roasted Butternut Soup with Sage- Bright in color, rich in vitamins…this is a perfect soup to stave off a chill!
Beef and Winter Vegetable Stew- Hearty root vegetables, rich broth and local beef!

Bring a jar or a container to take some soup home!

Thursday, December 11th- Knife Skills Workshop
6-8 pm
Learn to slice and dice with confidence. Improve your speed and style in the kitchen. We will learn how to mince, dice, slice on the bias, julienne, and chiffonade. This class will cover the cleaning and care of your chef’s best friend. We will also discuss knife safety.

There will be lots of hands on practice in this class that will result in a light soup and several seasonal hors de oeuvres.
$35/person
Bring your favorite knife if you want to have it sharpened. We have knives of all calibers for you to try.


Wednesday, December 17th- Holiday Baking for Kids!
3:30-5:30 pm ages 8 and up
The holidays are upon us! We will be making everyone’s holiday favorites!

Pumpkin Pie (from scratch! No canned puree here!)
Gingersnaps decorated with homemade frosting
Seasonal Fruit Compote in Cream

Kids will learn how to work safety in a kitchen, measuring skills and special techniques to make really special desserts!
$35/person
